Contact and Background
Melissa Lamendola is a certified STOTT PILATES instructor and a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist. She has applied her skills to help solving issues of the human body for more than fifteen years. In 2000, while living in Gloucester, Massachusetts, Melissa began her journey with STOTT PILATES and the study of human anatomy and movement. Melissa holds certifications through STOTT for Mat, Reformer, and ISP (injuries and special populations). In 2006 Melissa opened Anatomy in Motion Pilates and Wellness Studio in Clinton, NY. Since opening the studio, Melissa has expanded her education by attending courses on the Psoas muscle with Liz Koch of Core Awareness, and studying the fascial planes of the body with Tom Myers of Anatomy Trains. In 2011 she received her TRX Suspension training certification. In 2015 Melissa graduated from the Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca, NY.
Through her extensive anatomy training and her innate sense of how the body moves and functions, Melissa has created her own style of movement. She uses guided imagery and anatomical cueing to stimulate proper muscle patterns in the body. The calming nature of the movements can trigger overactive muscles to surrender, so the weaker stabilizing muscles can reactivate. At Anatomy in Motion Melissa specializes in issues relating to hips, sacroiliac joints, and lumbar disc herniations. She has helped many clients with chronic pain find relief through her style of movement. Athletes also frequent her studio. They benefit from her work by learning how to initiate movements from exactly the right place at the right time. Melissa is so pleased to provide her services to the Clinton, New Hartford, Utica, and Cooperstown areas.
